Reuben and Daniel from Price Waterhouse Cooper are our tutors this year. They arrived yesterday full of enthusiasm to teach our class about being smart with money. Yesterday we learnt about saving, borrowing and Kiwisaver.
Today we learnt about being a responsible borrower. When you are a responsible borrower you only buy what you need and what you can afford to pay back. You also have to be trustworthy to pay and return borrowed items back on time. We did some skits in class to learn more about being a trustworthy borrower.
Kia ora! We are the Year 7 and 8 students of Glenbrae School and our teacher is Miss Woodhall. This blog is where we learn, create and share our learning. Please leave a comment so we know you have visited!

Neil Armstrong the first man to walk the moon.
Dekorah has been learning about Neil Armstrong. Her reading group have been reading about the Apollo 11 mission. She decided to collect more information about the first man to walk on the moon. She created this Google drawing to share her learning.
Sailing have a go!
We were very fortunate to have the opportunity to take 24 of our senior students to have a go at sailing. This was on Tuesday the 16th of May. We departed Glenbrae School at 8.30 am and arrived at Okahu Bay Sailing Club at 9 am. We were then introduced to Justin and Maria from Yachting NZ as well as Gavin and Gary from the Rotary. The day was full of learning, fun and challenges. The students were challenged out of their comfort zone to sail in pairs. There was much laughter and excitement once they were confident in controlling their sail boat. What a fabulous day we had. Thank you Rotary and Yachting NZ.
Here is a slideshow of our fun day.

Reading Toitoi with Price Waterhouse Cooper
Charlotte who is from Toitoi came along with some volunteers from Price Waterhouse Cooper. Price Waterhouse Cooper pay for Glenbrae School's subscription for every Toitoi edition. Our class were separated into small groups and went with a volunteer. We read many stories and poems from the Toitoi books and also looked at the amazing illustrations. All the work in Toitoi books are from students in around New Zealand. Our class are trying to have some of our work published in Toitoi too.

K Pop. What is it? Who listens to it?
We often have Wonderings time where we all inquire into a topic of our choice. Salote and her friends are fascinated with K Pop. She created a poster to teach others about what K Pop is. Do you like K Pop as much as Salote does?
